The New England Institute of Human Sexuality

presents a

Sexual Attitude Reassessment Seminar (SAR)

Saturday September 27th , 2PM – 9PM & Sunday September 28th , 9AM – 2PM

Environmental Education Center, URI W. Alton Jones Campus

West Greenwich, RI

The New England Institute of Human sexuality provides learning opportunities for students, educators, nurses, geriatric staff, pharmacists, coaches, guidance counselors, clergy, parents, and professionals in clinic practice, leading to an expanded knowledge base and integrating human sexuality concepts into personal and professional practice.

The institute not only provides both academic course content and continuing education learning experiences, including a variety of certificate programs, but also allows professionals currently practicing to solidify and integrate knowledge and clinical practice and assists interested individuals in gaining American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) certification.

Sexual Attitude Reassessment Seminar (SAR)

Éit is a structured group experience in which the major focus is on a process-oriented exploration of the applicant's own feelings, attitudes, values, and beliefs regarding human sexuality and sexual behavior. Health professionals who develop a heightened sense of awareness display greater comfort with and incorporate a broader view of ÒnormalÓ human sexual behavior and response.

Éit is not personal psychotherapy nor an academic experience in which the primary emphasis is on cognitive information.

Éit does meet AASECT certification requirements for Òattitudes and values training experienceÓ.

The process involves explicit films, guest presentations, fantasy, experiential exercises, and guided imagery, followed by small-group discussion.  As a reflective follow-up, the applicant will submit a one-page comprehensive statement of her or his professional philosophy and goals of sex education, including how the SAR affected that philosophy.
