The Institute will present an online web-based Primary Certificate Program in Human Sexuality representing the equivalent of 30 hours of core human sexuality education in sexual and reproductive anatomy/physiology; developmental sexuality (conception through old age) from a psychological, sociological, and biological perspective; dynamics of interpersonal relationships; gender-related issues; and sexual orientations and gender identities For those undergoing the process of certification through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, this certificate represents the first third of the core education content required for certification.
Participants will be responsible for reading chapters from a human sexuality text and additional current readings from other publications. These current readings will be briefly reviewed. Postings to an online discussion board as well as active participation in a weekly half-hour chat will be expected. Periodic online reviews will be submitted. At the culmination of the program each successful individual will be sent a certificate of achievement. The certificate is endorsed by Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island.
